Cheltenham Development set for Sales in New Year
A COLLECTION of 12 new homes being built on an historic Cheltenham site will go on sale in January.
Just half a mile from the town centre, St George’s Mews will feature 12 houses by Clevedon-based housebuilder Elan Homes.
The development will transform a brownfield area that previously formed part of the Spriax Sacro base on St George’s Road. The site is also well-known for once housing a clinic belonging to Edward Jenner, who pioneered the smallpox vaccination in the 19th century.
While the adjacent land has already been redeveloped to create a care home and assisted living apartments, Elan will be creating a new but traditional collection of private sale homes close to Christ Church primary school.
Andrea Nippe, sales director for Elan Homes in the South West, said: “We’ve taken care to design a development that is sympathetic to the architectural character of Cheltenham and meets the needs of people who want a home close to the historic town centre.
“While appearing traditional from the outside, all our homes boast well-specified modern interiors with fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms and brand name appliances. As a privately-owned company, our focus is on quality, bespoke homes that meet the needs of our discerning purchasers and we look forward to launching sales at St Georges Mews in the New Year.”
Work began on the new homes in October. The venture will provide a mix of three and fourbedroom townhouses and three -bedroom two-storey homes, most with garages and ranging from 900sq ft to 1,400 sq ft.
Elan will also be contributing over £60,000 towards local primary and secondary education, to enable nearby schools to expand to accommodate new residents.
