Double success for Salford Consrtuction Worker
WITH two consecutive Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ Awards to his name, Andy Ryder can certainly be proud of the apartments he’s building in Salford.
Andy, is special projects construction manager for Elan Homes and is overseeing construction of the Saltra X2 and X3 apartment scheme at Salford Quays.
Andy was among 15,000 site managers to be assessed by judges from the National House Building Council over the past year. He passed the rigorous 38-point assessment to be named one of just 450 site managers to win Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ Awards.
Andy said: “Last year was the first time I’d won a ‘Quality’ Award and I’m glad to have retained it for a second year. It shows a consistency in standards day to day. All of the contractors on site take pride in their work.”
Judging for the awards includes spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site plus assessments of technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.
Only site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site and in the homes they build will be considered for a Pride in the Job Award.
Andy will have to wait until a regional award ceremony in the autumn to find out if he’s achieved the next level, the coveted Seal of Excellence. These are awarded to the top 130 site managers nationwide.
“I’m pushing the team as I’d love to reach the next level. The Seal of Excellence is something I definitely want to win,” Andy added.
