Family find their forever home in Farndon

DREAMS of moving out of Chester to a village location, where they could raise a family, have come true for Hannah and James Haworth thanks to part exchange.

Chef Hannah, 31, and compliance manager James, 32, found their ‘forever’ home at Fern Lea in Farndon. They were able to enjoy a hassle free move with daughters Amelia, seven, and Sophie, four, thanks to part exchange from Elan Homes.

Hannah explains: “We were living in a three-bedroom townhouse in Chester we’d bought as a couple but with two young children and a dog it was no longer suitable. We grew up in villages and wanted to raise our girls in a similar setting. We looked for homes in the Chester and Tarvin area and as we’d always liked the Farndon area Fern Lea was ideal.

“Part exchange made things a lot easier for us. We knew that the sale of our old home was a done deal, without any last minute haggles over the price or complicated chains and we were able to continue living in our old home while the new one was built.”

Their home, a four-bedroom detached Southwold, features a spacious lounge with feature bay window to the front and convivial open plan kitchen, breakfast area and family room to the rear. There’s also a handy utility and a cloakroom.

Upstairs, the master bedroom benefits from an en-suite to complement the family bathroom.

“Elan build really solid homes and the four-bedroom Southwold was perfect for us,” Hannah says.

“It’s our forever home. The bedrooms are all a good size so as the children grow older and want to spend more time in their bedrooms, they’ll have lots of space.”

The property benefits from contemporary boiler providing a zoned central heating system, thermostatically controlled radiators, efficient double glazing and effective wall, floor and loft insulation.

Hannah adds: “Our old home was only 14 years old when we moved out but we’ve noticed a difference since moving. The new house is a lot warmer – we don’t need the heating on as much!”

A Southwold, similar to the Hannah and James’, is available from £329,995.

Located off Barton Road, the homes enjoy an aspirational village setting, with views of open fields and the rolling Cheshire plains. The centre of the village, home to a wealth of amenities, is just a short walk away while the city of Chester is easily accessible by car, Fern Lea enjoys a best of both worlds appeal.
