Elan Homes – a leading, privately-owned housebuilder renowned for creating exceptional homes across the Midlands, North West, South West England, and North Wales – is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to oversee and manage engineering and utility works across Northern Region developments.

In this hands-on role, you’ll supervise construction activities, manage third-party contractors, and ensure all communal elements are delivered to the highest standards and handed over to management companies or adopting authorities. You’ll also manage legacy site road and sewer adoption processes.

Your Role:

As Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

• Managing all site technical and engineering aspects during construction.
• Supervising roads, sewers, utilities, and communal areas to ensure compliance with planning, design, and NHBC requirements.
• Procuring and managing adoption agreements for roads and sewers, including historical legacy sites.
• Coordinating third-party consultants, utility providers, and contractors to meet build programmes and budgets.
• Conducting inspections, spot checks, and overseeing remedial works.
• Managing engineering-related customer care issues in liaison with the Customer Care Team.
• Reviewing engineering and design packages, issuing drawings, and ensuring consistency with approved planning layouts.
• Supporting departmental budgeting and bond management.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree or equivalent in an engineering-related subject.
• Minimum 3 years in a similar role with another housebuilder.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with Local Highway Design Guides.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Sewers for Adoption and Section 38, 111, 228, 278 of the Highways Act.
  • Building Regulations (Parts L & M) and NHBC inspection procedures.
  • Road opening licensing, utility coordination, and groundworks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage costs, value engineer, and resolve technical site issues.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
