DREAMS of escaping the hustle and bustle to the tranquillity of the coast have inspired the décor in a new show home in Southport.

Elan Homes enlisted the expertise of Stanza Style to create the impression of a home visitors to Balmoral Gardens could imagine themselves living in.

The three-bedroom detached Fairford style show home has proved an instant hit with visitors, who love the timeless feel of the property and how the surrounding area has inspired the interior designers.

Elan sales director Marie Morris said: “Homes at Balmoral Gardens appeal to a real mix of purchasers including first time buyers, families and downsizers, so it was important that the show home reflects this while showcasing the quality and finish of our homes. Visitors tells us they love the sense of calm it evokes – the perfect antidote to busy modern lifestyles.”

A double fronted property, the Fairford has a lounge on one side of the hallway and an open plan kitchen and dining room to the other.

Alex Egan, from Stanza Style, explained: “Reflecting the location, close to the coast, we’ve styled the show home in soft ivory and steel blue with sandy tones. By adding lots of natural textures and sustainable materials we’ve created a home that feels very calm and serene.”

Three windows in the lounge emphasis the spaciousness of the room. A feature wall has been papered with a negative effect wallpaper – the background is soft blue with the pattern in white.

“The lounge is a good size with room for a corner sofa and armchair, oak topped TV unit and hessian footstools which double up as occasional tables. It has a feel of escaping to the seaside,” Alex added.

A spoke effect wooden dining table is paired with strap-backed chairs with hessian/rattan seat pads. The table is set on a jute rug, while above it hangs a wooden chandelier.

There’s also a practical utility and cloakroom, with two walls in the latter wallpapered with a soft blue cloud paper.

Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms and a family bathroom.

“In the main bedroom we’ve used a branch design wallpaper in a mix of steel blue and sand colours, with a neutral fabric piped headboard in front,” Alex added.

“The natural hessian trays in the bedsides offer a moveable storage option – great if you want to take a picnic down to the beach. We’ve taken further inspiration from the coast in the en-suite, adding a white bamboo ladder to hold the towels and a mirror bordered with seashells.”

Bedroom two has been styled as a guest room with a steel blue abstract starburst wallpaper, distressed natural wood lamps, washed wood bedsides with crate drawers and a half-moon white headboard.

“Bedroom three has a dual purpose, reflecting the way people use the space in their homes has changed because of the pandemic,” Alex explained, “There’s a work from space with a desk painted in soft grey with an oak top and a sofa bed that can sleep two people. We’ve used wallpaper with water birds on in this room and added macrame wall art in keeping with the coastal theme.”

Located on Balmoral Drive, the new homes at Balmoral Gardens are less than 10 minutes’ drive from the coastal town of Southport, known for its Victorian promenade and annual flower show, with the beach within easy reach.

Current availability includes a choice of three and four-bedroom homes, with prices from £234,995.
