Elan Homes will close Derwent Court over one of the busiest periods for property searches

IF moving to a new home in South Manchester tops your list of goals for 2020, now could be the time to buy.

Between Christmas and New Year has become one of THE busiest times for people to search for property.

Elan Homes saw a 45% increase in visitors to its website on Boxing Day 2018 compared with November 26 that year. The homebuilder also reports that web traffic on December 26, 2018 was 70% higher than the same date in 2017.

Buyers may therefore be surprised to learn that Elan will close the Derwent Court development in Chorlton from December 23 through to January 2.

Elan is therefore encouraging buyers to act now to beat the post-Christmas rush.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, said: “Traditionally pre-Christmas is a quieter time for the property market, but we want to shake things up and help get people moving sooner rather than later. We would recommend anyone hoping to move in 2020 starts their search now to beat the rush.

“The increase in visitors to our website between Christmas and New Year correlates with a surge in visitors to our developments in January. We could open our show homes between the festivities, but choose not to so that our sales teams can spend quality time with loved ones.”

Derwent Court is an intimate development offering a select choice of bespoke designed three-storey homes.

Situated in one of South Manchester’s most desirable neighbourhoods, current availability includes four-bedroom homes priced from £474,995.

To showcase the properties, Elan has opened a Twyford style show home. It’s available to view by appointment only.

The Twyford features an open plan kitchen, dining and family room, plus handy cloakroom, to the ground floor.

The lounge is on the first floor, along with the master bedroom and en-suite.

The remaining three bedrooms and the family bathroom are on the top floor.

All of the homes at Derwent Court are eligible for Help to Buy. The Government-backed equity loan scheme gives buyers the chance to secure a brand new home with a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage. The remaining 20% is covered by an equity loan, which is interest free for five years.
