Transport

Located on the main A34 trunk road, connecting Manchester (28 miles) and Stoke on Trent (15 miles) Congleton is very well connected. The M6 is also close by, with junction 17 at Sandbach just 8 miles away. Chester is 35 miles, Crewe is 15 miles and Macclesfield is 10 miles.

Congleton Station is less than half a mile from the development, with regular direct trains to Manchester in three quarters of an hour and direct trains to Stoke in just 15 minutes. Trains to London, via Stoke, take just 2 hours.

For local transport, there are bus stops right outside the development offering regular services into town and beyond.

Days out

You can step back in time at the spectacular Little Moreton Hall, an iconic black and white half-timber Tudor building that has been immaculately preserved. The hall puts on regular events recreating life in Tudor times as well as offering fascinating guided tours.

Alternatively, you can look to the future at the impressive Jodrell Bank radio telescope, home to a superb science discovery centre and host to BBC’s Stargazing Live.

The beautiful nine-hole course of Congleton Golf Club is just a short walk from the development, with the eighteen holes of Astbury Golf Course also close by. The town is home to one of the country’s oldest rugby clubs, as well as two cricket clubs, a football club and many other sports teams.

Congleton Leisure Centre has facilities for a wide range of sports, along with a swimming pool, while Astbury Mere Country Park provides facilities for a number of different watersports. For outdoor pursuits, the Peak District National Park is just a short drive to the east, offering endless opportunities for walking, climbing and much more.

The town is also home to the Daneside Theatre, which offers a varied programme of local productions, as well as regular Sunday evening film nights.

A short drive from town, Clonter Opera Theatre increases your cultural choice, while the countless theatres and concert halls of Manchester are just a short train ride away.

Shopping

Congleton market takes place every Tuesday and Saturday at the Bridestones Centre, complementing the excellent choice of shops and stores in the town centre, which features both local independents and famous high street names. Congleton Retail Park, just outside of the town centre, has a Tesco Extra and a number of electrical, furnishing and DIY stores, while there’s also a large supermarket in town.

For the latest designer styles, head south to Freeport Talke, just 10 miles away, where you’ll find the biggest names at outlet prices. Further south, Stoke and Newcastle-under-Lyme have a number of superb modern shopping centres, while Manchester’s famous Trafford Centre is easily reachable to the north for a full day’s shopping and leisure.

As you would expect from an upmarket Cheshire town, Congleton boasts an excellent selection of highly rated restaurants, from gastro-pubs to boutique brasseries.
