AWARD SUCCESS FOR MIDDLEWICH SITE MANAGER

Award-winning Elan Homes site manager Darren Evans

HOMEBUYERS in Middlewich can be assured of the quality of their new home after Elan Homes site manager Darren Evans secured a top industry award.

Darren earned his first NHBC Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ Award for his role in overseeing work at Canalside in Middlewich.

Now in its 38th year, Pride in the Job celebrates the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality

Darren was selected from around 16,000 site managers across the UK to win just one of 450 Quality Awards.

Judging for the awards is meticulous, with 44 areas of site management assessed including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls site managers have in place and spot checks of the day-to-day running of the site.

On a typical day Darren supervises 25 to 30 people working on site to construct new homes at Canalside.

Paying tribute to the team around him, Darren said: “Everyone on site is extremely pleased. The award might be in my name, but it’s their award too.

“Having quality trades working on site was a contributing factor in achieving the award. It’s important to keep everyone motivated to take pride in their work by making them feel appreciated and part of the team.”

Darren celebrated by holding a barbecue for the team. During the heatwave he’s bought them ice-creams and at Christmas gave out scratch cards.

He said that Canalside was at the perfect stage when the inspections were carried out and the timing had played a part in his success, along with the hard work of the team.

“You have to work hard and build a good team around you,” Darren said.

“I maybe in the office, but I get my hands dirty like everyone else and don’t ask them to do anything I wouldn’t do. The achievement of handing a home to someone outweighs the hard work that goes into it.”

Darren has worked for Elan Homes for four years, overseeing construction on sites across the North West including Altrincham, Warrington and Stockport before moving on to Canalside.

Darren, one of 40 Quality Award winners across the North West, will have to wait until October to learn if he’s achieved the coveted Seal of Excellence in the next round of the NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards.

Peter Crowney, construction director for Elan Homes in the North, said: “Elan Homes has a reputation for building high quality homes in desirable locations. As a business we have exacting standards across all of our developments and we are immensely proud of Darren’s achievement. The fact that he’s in the top 40 site managers in the North West and top 450 nation-wide is a fantastic accolade and one that should reassure customers as to the high quality finish of their home.”

The homes at Canalside, being built under Darren’s supervision, have all the ingredients buyers want, including a high specification and a location close to the canal with a good choice of schools nearby and easy access to Holmes Chapel and Knutsford.

Current availability includes four-bedroom homes priced from £314,995. On selected properties Elan will cover the Stamp Duty, contribute towards legal fees and include flooring in the price.
