New Homes set to blossom on former garden centre site

A PRESTIGIOUS development of bespoke designed homes will bring a former garden centre in Wilmslow back into good use and help satisfy demand in the area, Elan Homes has pledged.

The niche developer has secured planning consent to build 14 homes on land off Moor Lane.

Andrew Morgan, land director for Elan Homes in the North, said: “Identifying and acquiring land in the most desirable neighbourhoods is key to the growth of our business as location is a key factor when people are looking for a new home. Situated in the Cheshire ‘golden triangle’, Wilmslow is one of the most sought-after places to live not just in the North West, but across the country.

“We were keen to acquire land in the area and the former garden centre site presented the perfect opportunity. In drawing up the plans for the development we carefully considered the local market and who would want to live here, creating bespoke homes designed specifically to be sympathetic to existing properties in the neighbourhood.”

The development will feature 10 substantial detached homes, plus four affordable bungalows.

Elan has agreed to invest £42,000 in public open space, with a further £10,000 allocated for recreational open space. Secondary education will benefit from an investment of more than £32,000.

Work is due to start imminently to prepare the site for new homes and while the first properties won’t be available to purchase until next year, the housebuilder has already begun receiving enquiries from prospective purchasers.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, added: “Demand for new homes in Wilmslow is such that from the moment we announced plans to build in the neighbourhood people were keen to know when they’d be available to buy and how soon they could move. Now that planning has been granted we’re updating those who’d expressed an interest to let them know that we anticipate that the first properties will be released for sale in the spring. We’ve previously achieved off-plan sell-out success in nearby Altrincham and we expect our homes in Wilmslow will be just as sought-after.”
