LIVERPOOL saw one of the biggest percentage increases in property prices last year, but Help to Buy could make a brand new home close to the city centre easier to afford.
During a special Help to Buy event this Saturday (March 10), Elan Homes will have Help to Buy agents and independent financial advisors at hand to assess customers’ finances and guide them through the Government-backed scheme.
Help to Buy offers people the chance to take out an equity loan for up to 20% of the purchase price so that they can reserve a brand new home with a deposit of as little as 5%, plus a 75% mortgage from their chosen lender. Crucially, the equity loan is interest free for five years.
Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, says: “There’s so much talk about property prices that it can be confusing, particularly if you’re looking to buy your first home. The Office of National Statistics, for example, reported that Liverpool saw one of the biggest percentage price rises last year, yet Lloyds Bank lists it as one of the most affordable cities in the UK when comparing the ratio between house prices and average earnings.
“The homes we’re building at Aigburth Grange are just three miles from the city centre but don’t come with the premium of a city centre address. Plus, with Help to Buy available they could be even easier to afford than some people might realise.”
Prices at Aigburth Grange start from as little as £204,995 for a two-bedroom Hayfield style property.
The three-bedroom Glossop is available from £249,995 and a four-bedroom Sheldon from £309,995. On selected properties only, Elan is offering £1,000 towards legal fees, plus carpets and vinyl included, along with turf to rear garden.
