NOW HEADLINING IN GLASTONBURY: ELAN’S AVALON NEW HOMES

Mellor - Avalon

THE town is synonymous with the world’s most iconic music event, but Glastonbury hits all the right notes when it comes to being a great place to live too.

Surrounded by the glorious Somerset countryside, steeped in history and with a wealth of amenities right on its doorstep, it’s more than just a music festival – and that’s why Elan Homes has chosen Glastonbury for its latest South West development, Avalon.

Elan regional sales director Tracey Ball says: “Mention the word ‘Glastonbury’ and people immediately think of the music festival which thousands flock to almost every year – and rightly so, it’s an amazing event which attracts top musical stars.

“But there’s so much more to the area. Glastonbury is a beautiful market town, set among some of England’s most stunning scenery and charming villages, with Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Wells easily accessible.”

Although the famous festival has been cancelled again this year due to the ongoing pandemic, organisers are staging a global live streaming event throughout the weekend of May 22-23.

Live From Worthy Farm will treat festival fans to five hours of performances from stars like Coldplay, Damon Albarn and Jorja Smith, filmed across landmarks like the Pyramid Stage and Stone Circle. And just six miles away Elan Homes will be pointing the spotlight at its own A-listers – the homes on its new and much-awaited 60-home Avalon development.

Now under construction, the 60-home scheme offers a mix of private sale and affordable homes with two to five-bedrooms.

Elan currently has two and three-bedroom homes available to reserve off-plan including the two-bedroom Beeston from £197,950, and the Fenwick from £269,950.

The Beeston uses smart design to maximise every bit of space, and offers contemporary open plan living with a kitchen and dining area downstairs, a separate lounge, and that now-essential cloakroom.

Upstairs are two good-sized bedrooms and a family bathroom.

There’s also the chance for buyers to have VIP access by making “early bird” reservations on properties not yet released for sale.

Tracey adds: “Elan has a reputation for building high-quality homes in Somerset and beyond, and those at Avalon in Old Wells Road, will feature the same high-specification of all our properties, with options for customers to upgrade further to make their home unique to them. Now that certainly deserves a round of applause!”

Glastonbury is steeped in myth and legend – claimed to be the Isle of Avalon from the tales of King Arthur, which inspired the name of Elan’s development. It’s also soaked in history, with the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey celebrated as the site of the first Christian church in Europe.

The town remains surrounded by the wide-open spaces of the Somerset Levels, with Glastonbury Tor on the horizon. The area offers a superb mix of shopping and leisure amenities, a choice of good-rated local schools and a thriving community that any buyer would be proud to be a part of.

Within the town, there is a collection of high-quality restaurants and friendly gastro pubs; and shopping in and around Glastonbury High Street with a host of curious craft shops and alternative stores set among the more familiar national names. Glastonbury Market is held every Tuesday, and the Clarks Village outlet is close by.

While the Somerset countryside may offer rural peace and tranquillity, it is within easy reach of Bristol, Bath and Taunton, each around 25 miles drive away, and only six miles from the cathedral city of Wells. The M5 is just 15 miles away, and the rail connections of Castle Cary Station a similar distance.
