A PLANNED housing development in Crowle could bring more than £1 million of investment into the community.
Elan Homes recently acquired 13.5 acres of land off Froxmere Road.
It benefits from outline consent for 65 homes, public open space and associated drainage infrastructure.
Along with new homes, Elan plans to create a community orchard and invest in the neighbourhood.
Ben Jowett, head of land at Elan Homes Midlands, said: “We’re pleased to have acquired land in Crowle for new homes to help contribute towards addressing the shortfall of housing supply within the Wychavon District. We’re working on a reserved matters application, which we’ll submit to Wychavon District Council for consideration in the coming weeks. Subject to approval we hope to start work on site in mid-2026, with the first homes due to be released for sale in spring 2027.
“Along with contributing to housing targets by delivering much-needed new homes, schemes such as this benefit the wider community by providing employment, boosting investment and generate tax income for local authorities. Linked to our plans for new homes in Crowle we estimate we’ll invest more than £1 million in the local community to ensure it will remain a great place to live.”
Under Elan’s proposals the development would offer 39 private sale properties and 26 affordable homes including 19 for social rent and seven under the First Homes scheme.
All homes will have an electric vehicle charging point. A community orchard will also be provided.
A package of community investment to support the growth of the neighbourhood has been agreed as part of the planning process.
Based on the outline consent, this will include Community Infrastructure Levy payments in excess of £280,000 more than £265,000 for primary education, almost £200,000 for school transport, around £185,000 for formal sports, with over £90,000 further funding earmarked for healthcare and community transport, among others.
The land acquired by Elan is ideally located on the edge of the village, with playing fields, a convenience store / café, school, allotments, church and parish hall all within a short walk.
Worcester is easily accessible, with Worcestershire Parkway railway station a 16-minute drive away, offering connections to Birmingham, Nottingham, London and Cardiff.
Elan has a proven track record of delivering new homes across Worcestershire and beyond. The company is currently building and selling new homes at Sandbourne Gardens in Bewdley and has previously built across the county including at Merrybrook Grange in Evesham, Derrington Mews in Kempsey, Walcot Meadow in Drakes Broughton and Stableford, just two miles from Worcester city centre.
The Crowle site was promoted by Gleeson Land on behalf of private landowners and marketed by Hawksmoor, Fisher German and Bowler Oakfield.
