NEW homes have transformed a vacant site in Tamworth, with the company behind the scheme keen to acquire additional land.
Elan Homes recently sold the final home at its Dosthill Gate development on Dosthill Road.
The 2.5 acre site sits within the Wilnecote Regeneration Corridor, an area identified as having potential for housing development, as detailed within the adopted Tamworth Local Plan.
During the planning process, Councillor Jeremy Oates said the former brownfield site needed to be developed after laying empty for decades.
Ben Jowett, head of land at Elan Homes Midlands, said: “Dosthill Gate demonstrates our ability to regenerate sites and bring vacant land back into good use to help address the housing shortage. We’re continually looking for additional land with development potential to contribute to local housing targets and provide high quality, energy efficient homes people want and need. We’re keen to hear from landowners about how we can work together.”
The Elan team is adept at seeing the potential of a site and will consider land capable of delivering anything from 10 to 150 homes, with, or without, planning permission.
The company will draw up proposals to fit the site, adapting its product mix to address local housing needs and working with the landowner and local authority to bring the scheme to fruition.
At Dosthill Gate Elan has built 37 homes, including a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
Linked to the planning consent for the development, the homebuilder made a Community Infrastructure Levy contribution in excess of £100,000 and a further £30,000 bio-diversity payment to support the growth of the neighbourhood.
“New homes bring economic benefits to communities,” Ben explained.
“We invest in the areas we build to support local infrastructure via funding agreements made with local authorities during the planning progress. Jobs are created on site during the construction of the homes. Both the people who work on our homes and those who live in them support local businesses by shopping nearby. Plus, there’s a long-term impact in the form of additional council tax revenue.”
Elan’s previous developments across Staffordshire include sites in Baswich, Elford, Kinver, Loggerheads, Tettenhall and Wombourne. The homebuilder is currently selling apartments in Lichfield and homes just across the county border in Shuttington.
