NEW INNINGS FOR FORMER CRICKET CLUB SITE IN STOCKPORT

A HOMEBUILDER with a proven track record of delivering new homes across Greater Manchester is stepping up to the wicket to provide more new homes with its latest development.

Elan Homes received reserved matters approval from Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council last September for plans to redevelop the former Bredbury St Marks Cricket Club on Hillside Road in Woodley.

The just launched scheme is the company’s 11th development in Greater Manchester. Between completed and ongoing schemes, Elan will have delivered more than 450 homes in the area.

Previous schemes have given new life to part of a former hospital site in Stockport; seen homes created on land alongside a golf course in Dukinfield and the redevelopment of a former church in Lowton.

Elan regional sales and marketing director Marie Morris said: “Our redevelopment of the former Bredbury St Marks Cricket Club is a key piece in the jigsaw as it provided the funding boost the club needed to relocate to a new, larger ground with modern facilities. Recognising that the site had been home to the cricket club for more than a century, we’re honouring its history by calling it St Marks Pavilion.

“The pavilion itself has already been demolished, the site cleared, infrastructure works carried out and good progress is being made in constructing the first homes. We’re working towards releasing the first homes for sale this autumn.”

All 24 homes at St Marks Pavilion are available for private sale. Initial prices are from £499,995 for a five-bedroom semi-detached Dunham.

“With this development we’re contributing to housing targets for the Stockport area, providing a choice of four and five-bedroom homes. More than 300 people have already enquired about living here, demonstrating that there’s a demand for new homes here and that Elan is a brand buyers trust,” Marie added.

Elan will develop 2.41 acres of the 2.54-acre site, retaining existing mature trees and providing public open space, including a local area of play, invertebrate house and hedgehog house.

Electric vehicle charging facilities will be provided for all homes.

“Building new homes brings economic benefits including job opportunities during the construction phase and additional council tax revenue once the homes are built and occupied,” Marie explained.

“There are a range of local businesses nearby who are benefiting from the custom from construction workers and in the future will have long-term new customers in our homeowners.”

Elan’s current developments across Greater Manchester include Garrett Hall Fields in Tyldesley and Hazelfields in Poynton.

Previous schemes in the area included homes in Audenshaw, Chorlton, Dukinfield, Lowton, Middleton, Ramsbottom, Stockport and Swinton.
