SPORTING PAST INSPIRES SHOW HOME STYLE IN WOODLEY

BUYERS have been bowled over by the interior styling in a show home in Woodley with a sporting theme.

Just 24 homes are being built on land that was home to Bredbury St Marks Cricket Club for more than a century. While the club has moved to a new, larger ground with modern facilities, it’s inspired both the development name – St Marks Pavilion – and the show home interior.

Elan Homes briefed interiors experts from the Design House to dress the four-bedroom Bunbury Special show home at the popular development.

Lead interior designer Nina Souter said: “We wanted to create a warm and welcoming family home and couldn’t resist giving a nod to the site’s previous use as a cricket pitch. One of the bedrooms has been styled with a cricket-loving teen in mind. It includes bespoke wallpaper featuring a subtle geometric pattern inspired by wickets and cricket balls, plus some other fun sporting accessories throughout the space. For the downstairs cloakroom we chose a timeless wallpaper with a playful sporting twist – think polo, tennis, sailing, rowing and naturally, a nod to cricket too. We’ve also added a few sporty touches in the lounge and along the gallery wall on the staircase to tie the theme together.”

The colour palette throughout the property is a mix of rich greens, warm tans and a hint of pink, balanced with timeless neutrals and classic smoked wood in the furniture.

“In the main bedroom we’ve used a gorgeous cascading floral wallpaper. It’s a style popping up everywhere in the newest design collections,” Nina added.

“For the younger child’s room, we swapped sport for story time and created a dreamy space for a book lover, with a cosy reading nook, fairytale touches, and playful bobble beading on the walls.”

Current availability at St Marks Pavilion includes a choice of five-bedroom homes, set out over three floors, priced from £599,995.

Subject to build stage, buyers will have the opportunity to customise their new home before moving in by selecting things like the finish of the kitchen, the flooring and bathroom tiles.

“When you’re styling your own home drawing inspiration from the setting or your hobbies, like we did with the cricket pitch, is a great starting point,” Nina added.

“Subtle nods to a theme can add real personality – think patterned wallpapers, framed prints, or small decorative details that reference your inspiration without feeling overdone. Don’t be afraid to introduce feature wallpapers that reflect your home’s story and embellish it with thoughtful touches.”

Elan’s new homes in Woodley are in the catchment area for a number of well-regarded schools. Woodley train station is a few minutes’ drive away, offering commuter links to Manchester city centre, while nearby Werneth Low Country Park offers the chance to explore the outdoors and take in panoramic views.

The show home at St Marks Pavilion is open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm.
