WITH half of the new homes being built in Glastonbury already sold, Elan Homes has released a new phase of properties in the Somerset town.

Located on Old Wells Road, the new homes at Avalon are being built less than 10 miles from Worthy Farm – home to the famous Glastonbury Festival.

The location, mix of properties and the chance to live in an energy efficient new build home, means that the second phase of properties has been eagerly awaited.

Building work is progressing well, with some of the homes almost ready to move into.

Elan regional sales director Tracey Ball said: “Many of our homebuyers at Avalon are people who were already living in the town or nearby. We’ve been keeping those who registered their interest in the second phase of the development updated about our progress. There are now only around 20 homes available here – that’s less than half of the private sale properties. We’d therefore encourage anyone looking for a new home in Somerset to contact us without delay. They could even move in before the gates to the famous festival ground open.”

There’s a good choice of homes to suit a variety of buyers and budgets at Avalon. Current prices range from £240,000 for a two-bedroom terraced Beeston style property up to £515,000 for a five-bedroom detached Mellor.

All of Elan’s new homes achieve a minimum Energy Performance Certificate rating of B. This makes them among the most efficient homes on the market. It also means they’re eligible for green mortgages. Available from selected lenders, these tend to offer more favourable interest rates than regular mortgages.

“Moving to a new build home has the potential for long term savings thanks to a range of energy efficient features,” Tracey added.

Research by the HBF suggests the gap between the cost of running a new home and an older one is increasing. They estimate that the difference between annual bills in a new home and an older property is currently £2,600 and could rise to £3,100 when the energy price guarantee increases in July.”

While Glastonbury Festival is world renowned, the area has much more to offer including the historic abbey, plus all the amenities people want from a neighbourhood including restaurants and gastro pubs, high street stores, quirky independents and a regular market.
