HOMEBUYERS MAKE A SMART MOVE TO LOGGERHEADS

IN the 16th century a “loggerhead” was a fool, but it’s a wise homebuyer who makes the move to a brand new home in the Staffordshire village of Loggerheads.

Close to the Shropshire and Cheshire borders it’s surrounded by open fields and woodland stretching out in all directions.

And, once famed for its clean air, sitting high above the dampness of the lowlands and the soot and smoke that blew over from The Potteries, it is still claimed the climate is different from that surrounding Loggerheads.

For those looking for a home in the area, Brook Meadows is a breath of fresh air – the Elan Homes development offers a choice of spacious properties with a high specification as standard.

“There’s been a real increase in people relocating from towns and cities to quieter, more rural locations over the last 12 to 18 months. Families in particular have been keen to make the great escape and have been expanding their search criteria to areas like Loggerheads, says Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North.

“They love that the homes at Brook Meadow enjoy a picturesque village location but are still actually close to the busy towns of Market Drayton and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

“Moving here means you’re never more than 20 minutes away from any of the amenities you might need, and yet you have peace, quiet and calm whenever you want it.”

Add the stylish homes on the Mucklestone Road development, and few would dispute that this is anything other than a perfect place to live.

Current prices at Brook Meadow, the first new homes collection in the area for more than a decade, start from £219,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached Ripley.

While the Ripley is perfect for growing families or first-time buyers, Elan has just released a new phase of larger homes, including the four-bedroom detached Southwold.

A stylish home with an integral garage, it offers 1,283 sq ft of beautifully laid out living space.

The ground floor boasts a spacious lounge at the front, with an expansive open plan kitchen and dining area overlooking the rear garden. There’s also a well-equipped utility room and that now-essential downstairs cloakroom.

Upstairs, is a good-sized main bedroom with en-suite, together with three more bedrooms and a family bathroom. Prices for the Southwold start from £319,995.

Loggerheads has a village shop, post office and school – and that famous pub, now known simply as The Loggerheads. Market Drayton is only four miles away and Newcastle-under-Lyme just 10, while Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Telford are all within a 30-minute drive.

The A53 runs through the village connecting to the M6 less than 10 miles away, there are regular bus services, and Norton Bridge train station is 12 miles away, from where you can connect to London in under two hours.
