A PICTURE postcard town, Bewdley is ticking all the right boxes for homebuyers, with the distant roar of lions adding to the ambience.
Named among the best places to live by lifestyle platform Muddy Stilletos, it’s a great option for people who work in Birmingham or Worcester but want to relax somewhere quieter yet with a strong sense of community.
The location is among the factors driving buyers to Sandbourne Gardens, an Elan Homes development on Stourport Road.
The homes are being built close to Blackstone Nature Reserve, but it’s the proximity to West Midlands Safari Park that’s causing a stir among buyers.
Elan regional managing director Jeremy Attwater said: “Bewdley is a picture-perfect town along the River Severn – the kind of place you see on postcards. It has everything from a steam railway and safari park to a café culture, good schools and independent shops. Plus, it’s commutable to Worcester in around 30 minutes or to Birmingham in less than an hour by road or rail via nearby Kidderminster station. For those who occasionally work in London, the capital is around two and a half hours away by train.
“Our new homes in Bewdley are attracting enquiries from a mixture of locals wanting to stay in the area, people keen to move to be closer to family already living here and those who are looking to relocate and have fallen in love with the neighbourhood. There’s sometimes a look of surprise on visitors’ faces when the wind has carried the sound of a lion roaring a couple of miles away at the safari park.”
Blackstone Nature Reserve and nearby Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens offer a chance to explore nature close to home; while Bewdley River and Rail Circular Walk offers the chance to take in the area’s natural beauty and industrial heritage.
“With the Wyre Forest nearby, plus riverside paths and open green spaces, living in Bewdley is ideal for walking, cycling and spending time outdoors. It’s a very walkable town, with all the essentials a short walk away including choice of local shops and restaurants,” Jeremy added.
“Because both The Bewdley School and Bewdley Primary School are close by, parents and grandparents who help with childcare have enquired about our new homes at Sandbourne Gardens.”
The location inspired the styling in the show home, which includes a rowing themed room complete with Bewdley Rowing Club jacket, and a ballet dancer’s bedroom including swan artwork in a nod to The Bewdley School’s emblem.
Current availability at Sandbourne Gardens includes two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, with prices from £299,995.
They’re some of the most energy efficient homes available, offering buyers to reduce their household bills when moving from older properties.
Heating and hot water will be powered by air source heat pumps, in place of traditional gas boilers, with underfloor heating to the ground floor. Every home will have an electric vehicle charging point.
Subject to build stage, buyers will have the opportunity to customise their new home before moving in by selecting things like the finish of the kitchen and bathroom tiles amongst others.
The show home at Sandbourne Gardens is open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm. For more information see www.elan-homes.co.uk/developments/sandbourne-gardens.
