LOWER energy bills, no repairs or renovations and the chance to enjoy a new lease of life, are just some of the reasons people are downsizing to apartments in Lichfield.
Elan Homes is hosting a special event at Lorne House at The Sidings this weekend (September 27/28) to help people explore the reasons for downsizing.
Visitors will be able to view the four bespoke-designed apartments and speak with experts who can help them make a move, even if they have a house to sell.
Elan regional sales director Tracey Ball said: “People often feel attached to what was once their family home and perhaps want to stay there long after the children have moved out. But there are lots of practical and financial reasons downsizing makes sense and that doesn’t necessarily mean waiting until retirement and or moving to a specialist retirement complex.
“It could be that now the children have gone to university or bought homes of their own or your energy bills for a large home are more astronomical than economical. Or maybe you’re tired of spending time and money on maintenance when what you really want is a holiday. For some, downsizing could mean becoming mortgage free or being able to help their children or grandchildren towards a deposit for a home of their own.
“Our downsizers’ event is about exploring the various factors and helping people take that next step with confidence and clarity. Whether you're planning for retirement, seeking financial freedom or simply craving a fresh start, this is your chance to see how you could enjoy a new lease of life in an apartment.”
There are four apartments currently available, each with two bedrooms, priced from £375,000.
Accessed via a central lobby and staircase or lift, there are two apartments available on the first floor, plus two penthouses with vaulted ceilings and exposed steel, on the second floor.
“Because they’ve been created within an existing building, the apartments are full of character but have the conveniences and comforts people expect from a new build,” Tracey added.
“They include fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, modern bathrooms and en-suites, with energy efficient heating systems.”
The apartments are designed to maximise the potential of the space, with each featuring a combined kitchen, dining and living room.
The main bedroom in every apartment has an en-suite to complement the main bathroom. For those who only need the second bedroom for friends and family staying over, they could create a dual function space in the spare bedroom, also using it as a home gym, luxurious dressing room or hobby room.
“Downsizing to one of apartments in Lichfield isn’t about compromise – it’s about creating space for what truly matters,” Tracey added.
“We also recognise that people considering moving here may have a house to sell first. We can help with that with our EasyMove scheme. From valuing the customer’s home to instructing estate agents to market it and even paying their fees, it’s all about ensuring moving is as simple and straightforward as possible.”
The apartments are just a short walk from the stores, coffee shops, restaurants and entertainment venues such as The Garrick Theatre in Lichfield city centre.
