CHILDREN OFFICIALLY OPEN NEW PLAY AREA IN CONGLETON

EXCITED local children helped officially open a new play area in Congleton.

Elan Homes invited members of Congleton Youth Council, Rainbows, Brownies and Scouts to celebrate the milestone at the Oak Grange development.

Children helped cut the ribbon before they were given the chance to test out the equipment.

Elan sales manager Ken Bracewell said: “The best way to celebrate the completion of a playground is to see it filled with happy children and so we invited younger members of the community to help us mark the official opening. After the formality of the ribbon cutting they were eager to explore the equipment we’ve provided. It was great to see them enjoying playing outdoors and having fun together. Their enthusiasm shows how valuable this new facility will be for local families. We hope it will become a place where children will play, make friends and create lasting memories.”

The new play area is designed to encourage active play, social interaction and outdoor recreation for children of all ages and abilities. It reflects Elan’s commitment to providing community facilities alongside new homes.

Facilities include a slide, tunnel, climbing frames, and three types of swing including a saucer swing. The items were chosen to encourage social interaction and cooperative play, while helping develop balance, coordination and body awareness.

The children were joined by youth council lead Cathy Dean, Brownie, Rainbow and Scout leaders, plus local resident Congleton Town Councillor Robert Douglas.

Youth council member Isabel Silva Jeffcoat said: “It was a pleasure to attend the opening of the playground and see a new facility for the young people to enjoy for many years to come.”

The new play area is part of Elan’s Oak Grange development on Back Lane where a good range of housing is being created to cater for local needs. It offers everything from two-bedroom apartments to substantial five-bedroom homes, with selected properties available at a discount to market value subject to eligibility criteria set by Cheshire East Council.
